Social City Hall North, Frankfurt am Main
The representative building from the 1990s is located in the Merton Quarter of Frankfurt and was renovated and expanded in 2016. The designer Anke Steinhoff was commissioned to design the guidance and orientation system. Together with the architect's office Ursula Stahl, great importance was attached to intuitive wayfinding, flexible adaptability to future room occupancy and a vandalism-proof design.
Anke Steinhoff decided to use a multi-colored version when developing the guidance system. Each floor is characterized by a different signal color, such as red, blue and green. A high-contrast text display and supplementary tactile floor markings make it easier for visitors to find their way around without barriers.
When selecting the sign system, attention was paid to an unobtrusive design, user-friendly handling and dimensional adaptability to structural conditions. For example, the flush integration of the signs into the granite cladding of the central lift foyers of the existing building was cleverly solved by the various possibilities of the selected system quintessenz from Meng.
From the door signs, wall and ceiling overviews to the door lettering, everything from one system family was implemented during an extremely short construction phase thanks to quintessenz and thus reflects the uniform design line.
